Coventry is my home town... i now live in the next town accross, if there is anything specific you need me to look for, i can nip in the library while finishing my xmas shopping!!
All the areas you mention are not 'affluent' areas, Stoke Aldermore and Hillfields are probably the 2 roughest areas they have.... altho the former, Stoke Aldermore is where the Italian Job filmed the scenes of the Mini's going thru the tunnels!

Hi Wayne thanks for reply only just seen it I do hope you had good Xmas and the new year is off to a fabulous start for you. You could see if you can find out who lived at the address 171 munition cottages. Hillfields used to be one of the nice parts of the city. My great 2ndAunt used to own the shop at the end of Kepple Street. I can remember the area well from visits when i was little. Was actually born in Kepple Street. But the area today is very different looks unkept and rough. I remember the Busses going into the Depot before the new estates were built. My goodness now i am sounding old!!! Anything you can find on the Bower's or Offord's or Pratt's i would be interested in. I know my other 2nd Aunt owned a cafe it was either Much Park street or Little Park street I remember it was on the right hand side of the road looking towards the police station there now and the council house behind you so any information on Cafe's in these Streets i would be interested to hear from you
Many thanks Glenise

On your initial question, Glenise, it looks like the first marriage was to Sarah Jane Dyke; in 1891:
Name: Sarah Jane Offord Age: 20 Estimated Birth Year: abt 1871 Relation: Boarder Gender: Female Where born: Coventry, Warwickshire, England Civil Parish: St Michael and St John Ecclesiastical parish: St Michael with St John Town: Coventry County/Island: Warwickshire
Married, Tile cutter, no husband present.
I'm not seeing her in 1901 by either name, or dying in either name ...
If you want to know whether they were the same Walter James Offord ... you probably have to order the first marriage cert and compare ages/fathers. ;)
